Fortnite introduced a weapon modification system called “Weapon Sidegrading.” This feature allowed players to upgrade certain weapons at upgrade benches located around the map. Please keep in mind that Fortnite’s mechanics and features may have changed since then, and it’s essential to check the latest in-game information and patch notes for any updates to the weapon modification system. Here’s how the Weapon Sidegrading system worked as of my last update:

1. Find an Upgrade Bench:

  • Upgrade Benches are scattered around the Fortnite map, primarily located at named POIs (Points of Interest) and some unnamed locations.

2. Gather the Required Materials:

  • To perform a weapon sidegrade, you’ll need the following materials:
  • 150 Wood, Stone, or Metal, depending on the upgrade bench’s type.
  • The weapon you want to upgrade.

3. Approach the Upgrade Bench:

  • Interact with the Upgrade Bench to access the upgrade menu.

4. Select the Weapon to Modify:

  • In the upgrade menu, select the weapon you want to modify. Note that not all weapons are eligible for sidegrading; only specific weapons can be upgraded.

5. Choose the Upgrade:

  • After selecting the weapon, you’ll see a list of possible upgrades or sidegrades. Typically, you can upgrade between two variants of the weapon, such as turning an Assault Rifle into a Heavy Assault Rifle or a Tactical Shotgun into a Combat Shotgun.

6. Spend Materials:

  • Once you’ve chosen the upgrade, confirm your selection, and the required materials will be deducted from your inventory.

7. Collect Your Modified Weapon:

  • After the process is complete, your weapon will be upgraded or sidegraded according to your selection. You can then collect it from the upgrade bench.

Please remember that the availability of upgrade benches and the weapons eligible for sidegrading may change from season to season in Fortnite. Always refer to the in-game tooltips and patch notes for the most current information on weapon modification systems and other game mechanics.
